Carol Beaulieu, owner of Technical Products, is celebrating 18 years in business!! She is the middle child of five with two older sisters and a younger sister and brother. Her family moved from the Bay area of California to Vale, OR when she was 11 years old, so she considers herself an Oregonian.
Carol started her career with American Investment Company in Ontario as a Cashier/Customer Service Rep. She was transferred to Corvallis as a manager trainee, and later to Albany and Salem. She stayed with the company for almost 6 years and earned the distinction of becoming its youngest Branch Manager. Carol has worked as an Assistant Credit Manager for a commercial equipment leasing corporation, a Credit Manager and Account Manager for telecommunications companies, a Salesperson for the world's largest electronic components distributor, and now she is the proud owner of her own company. Having lived in Eugene, West Linn, Wilsonville, Tualatin and now Newberg, she truly is a "Woman of Willamette".
Carol and her husband were married aboard their boat on the Pacific Ocean out of Winchester Bay in 1984. They recently celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary. Although they have no children, they have a very large 7 y.o. golden retriever- aptly named, Chief- as in the Chief of their household!
Why did you select the business you are in? It kind of selected me. I had been working in sales for many years and was unhappy with the company where I had been working for almost 3 years. When I mentioned to a couple of our vendors that I was seeking employment elsewhere, they asked me why wouldn't I start my own business? I hadn't even thought about it because the idea was just too scary to contemplate. But after careful consideration and with the encouraging support of my husband and family, I did. That was 18 years ago!!
What do you like most about what you do? The variety… every day is a new challenge. I meet some wonderful people and learn about amazing businesses and their cutting-edge technologies, which fascinate me.
Why did you join WOW and what is the most rewarding or valuable aspect of being a WOW member? Meri Kerekanich insisted! Have you ever try to tell Meri, "No"? Seriously, when we worked with Meri to acquire our Newberg property in 2013, she enlightened me about WOW and the opportunity to connect with some incredible women. I have always been a believer in networking and it sounded like a good fit.... and.... Meri really did insist. The opportunity to meet in relaxed settings with this amazing group of women who share like values and interests is very gratifying- not to mention often times educational and entertaining!
