Celia Austin has lived on Chehalem Mountain most of her life. She was born in Portland and moved to the Sherwood side of Chehalem Mountain when she was 12. Celia has a degree in Home Economics and Communications from Oregon State University and took additional classes in Advertising at Portland State. She and her husband, Ken, have three grown sons, two daughters-in-law and two darling grandchildren.
Why did you select the business you are in? Rain Dance Marketplace is a sophisticated farm store featuring wine, local artists, gifts, llama fiber products, and other wonderful items. Ken and I got llamas 25 years ago after he went on a packing trip with friends. We got interested in wine after taking a class at Sokol Blosser almost 40 years ago. My interest was rekindled when we opened the Allison and we started attending the Thursday night wine tastings.
What do you like most about what you do? I learn something new everyday and I get to meet interesting people from all over the world.
Why did you join WOW and what is the most rewarding or valuable aspect of being a WOW member? Meri invited me to join when she was starting the group and I thought it would be a good way to meet local business women.
Who could be an ideal potential client for you? Anyone who loves really good wine.
What do you like to do for fun? I love to work in our yard, take photographs and redecorate our house. The best thing is spending time with my family.
What are five things you cannot live without? My family, my dogs, tea, wine and homegrown tomatoes.
Where is your favorite place to vacation? Central Oregon
